Well I'm back again today in lab waiting on incubations and gels.

Taking more questions.

Should I major in genetics?

I was going to go for ecology and evolution but I know there's no jobs in that.

I'm not sure why, maybe no one has crystallized it. Did you look in the literature for that? Or it can't be modeled well with a computer.

>wake up 7am or 7:30
>shower, eat breakfast, listen to the radio
>leave by 8:30, walk to lab, get there by 9
>lab stuff, take care of cells, think about what experiments I need to do and plan them out
right now this consists of a lot of gene cloning, ligations, transformations, and in vitro translations
>On Monday and Wednesday we have seminar 11-12
>maybe lunch around 12, I don't always eat (On Thursdays I have journal club)
>class 1-2:30
>More lab things from 2:30-7/8/9 depending on what I'm doing. I usually just work until I'm done
>walk home, make some food, watch a little TV, hopefully get motivated to read papers for class the next day or on my research area
>go to sleep around 11:30 or 12

I majored in molecular genetics in undergrad and I think it was a good major. I got a good education in basic genetics, molecular and cellular biology, microbiology, and biochemistry; but if you like ecology and evolution more then you should major in that. No use in doing something you don't enjoy, but you could probably use genetics to study EEOB
