Logic is a branch of philosophy. Philosophy is much broader than logic (and thus contains much more bullshit). Because of its breadth and most of it being crap, most people associate it with only the crap forgetting the useful bits such as logic, maths (arguably part of logic) and science are actually branches of philosophy.

Not just unfalsifiable (though that is a very large part of it) but also some branches can be extremely opinionated and generally useless...

Science and the interpretations of results can be opinionated but to far lesser degree than, for example, aesthetics. In addition, further experiments can be performed to eliminate invalid interpretations from the previous experiment. For maths and logic, the 'answers' can usually be fully defined and is not open to interpretation.

Philosophag here. Logic stopped being "part of philosophy" in 1879 though philosophical logic continues as a thriving discipline. This had nothing to do with the industrial revolution but rather the invention of modern logic which is mathematical logic. Math does NOT come from logic, and is older than either logic or philosophy. The development of mathematical logic was an ATTEMPT to reduce math to logic, but that ultimately failed, and in any case the logic that was being used was not philosophical logic but mathematical logic.

Also, Boole was not a philosopher but a mathematician.
