What is more challenging/difficult: linear algebra or calc 3?

Pic related. Math got a rover on Mars. That's right. That's a sunrise. On another planet. Do you realize how awesome that is?

that's actually a sunset

Another Mars picture.

The fact that these dust devils are on a wholly different planet makes them seem far eerier than they should be.

I'm in Calc 3 right now, I'm going into Linear Algebra next semester.

I'm apathetic.

You do linear algebra with calc 2 in aus.

Oops. Sorry about that mistake.

Linear algebra.

Calc 3 is more of the same from Calc 1 and 2, but linear algebra can be hard to visualize at first in terms of null spaces and projections, etc., especially if you get a teacher who doesn't explain the material well.

Doesn't make it any less awesome.

So if the teachers are roughly the same, quality-wise, linear algebra is generally more difficult?

>>2792793
No, not at all!

I don't know what's in your calc 3, but if it's just multi-variable it's fucking easy, just an extension of single variable. Linear algebra was by far my favorite subject in math, though I never really took a dedicated course on it.

It's multi-variable and later gets into vectors

I thought calc 3 was harder, but it probably depends on what your background is already and how good or bad your textbooks and teachers are. I already had some linear algebra experience from programming 3D computer graphics shit as a teen which was fucking hard as hell at the time but once I had to take it in college it was the easiest A ever.

Well, it's kind of hard for me to give you a clear answer.

I went to a community college and then transferred into a nice engineer school.

The community college forced me to take a 200 lvl course in linear algebra (it was incorporated into calc III); however, as a computer science engineer, the lvl 200 course didn't count towards my BA, so I had to take a lvl 400 course.

The 200 stuff was fairly easy (on par with Calc III). The 400 stuff was kind of hard, but I also had a crappy teacher.

Anyway, over all, I still say linear algebra is slightly harder because you have to get used to a different way of thinking of things.

I thought Linear Algebra was way harder, but I think it depends a lot on the person. And probably more importantly, the teacher.

I'm an aerospace grad student and I STILL hate linear algebra.

I thought vector calculus was over 9000 times harder than linear algebra.

But I'm more of an 'abstract' than a 'computational' kind of guy.
