It should be taught alongside computer science or programming, since the two subjects have a lot in commmon, and complement each other greatly.

For example I personally find it frustrating to do any mathematics without having a function plotting program at hand.

But I guess people here would complain about that idea, because functional programming is applied maths, and /sci/ faggots hate anything applied right?

In 3 phases.

1: The straight forward logic, just the equation or whatever in the simplest form possible with no "learning aids" or fruity shit teachers like to do. Put up on the wall where everyone can see.
2: Practice, learning aids come in here to distinguish them from the abstract definition. The abstract versions look "boring" but really simpler is less boring in this case.
3: Thinking outside the box, students need to not only be able to recognize a problem and how to solve it but choose the quickest solution.
