Whilst attempting to learn binary and hexadecimal, I found some neat stuff about the number 42.
>42 in binary equals 101010
>101010 has 6 digits
>4+2=6
>If 42 were a hex number, its decimal equivilant is 66
Douglas Adams is a devil worshiper!
More stuff...
>42 in hex is 2A
>If 2=2 and A=1(first letter in alphabet), then
>2A=21
>21 is drinking age
>Douglas Adams got the idea for The Hitchhikers Guide to the galaxy sitting drunk in a field
Cool huh?

By the way when I say If 42 were a hex number, I mean 4216=6610
And 2A<sub>16</sub>=42<sub>10</sub>
Just to clarify.

42 in binary is 0101010 in any meaningful binary to decimal conversion.

All attempts to attribute meaning to Douglas Adams' choice are wrong.

>Douglas Adams was asked many times during his career why he chose the number 42. Many theories were proposed,[6] but he rejected them all. On November 3, 1993, he gave an answer[7] on alt.fan.douglas-adams:
>" The answer to this is very simple. It was a joke. It had to be a number, an ordinary, smallish number, and I chose that one. Binary representations, base thirteen, Tibetan monks are all complete nonsense. I sat at my desk, stared into the garden and thought '42 will do'. I typed it out. End of story.
