hi there /sci/ ive been working real hard today as i have a spec test tomorrow on logarithms and indices, no doubt you will most likely find this really easy but I lack the algebraic skills to break some of the complex questions down, I was wondering if I explained the problem someone could work through the question to help me understand.

1. 5(2^x) = 3 - 2^x+2

2. 5^x + 4(5^x+1) = 63

the problem im having comes with the multiplication, I dont know what to do when I have 4 groups of 5 to an unknown power. If someone could go through the question Id really appreciate it :)

Just do the t=a^x substitution and everything should be alright.

assuming its 5^x+4*5^(x+1)=63
5^x+20*5^x=63 because 5^x+1=5*5^x
5^x=3
x=log3/log5
