Hey /sci/. I need some medical fags.
So my brother took a few college courses on pharmaceutical classes. We got into a conversation and he said that a neurotransmitter called D2 can change my friends. He didn't know anything beyond that. Can anyone help me out? I couldn't find shit on google.

>>change my friends
wtf

anyhow, maybe he was talking about dopamine and the D2-receptor..

This is also my best guess.

What does he mean by "change your friends"?

Contrary to popular belief, /sci/ knows what friends are. We didn't need that clarifying.

But 'changing them' is an interesting choice of words. Can you clarify?

>> No.2711555

Meaning changing the group of people I hang out with and my personality. Fuck, can't someone just tell me about the chemical?

dopamine receptor 2?

Sure...

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter in the brain. It's involved in filtering certain movements (it's dysfunctional in Parkinsons) and also in the frontal cortex (the area responsible for higher reasoning, personality and the like).

The receptor for dopamine in the frontal cortex is the D2 receptor. Altering action at this receptor is the function of all typical and atypical antipsychotics used in the treatment of schizophrenia. Cocaine and amphetamines also act on this receptor, however, have the opposite effect to that of the antipsychotics.

Th inking about what these classes of drugs do should give you some insight into the type of jobs the D2 receptor does in combination with dopamine.

Alright, thanks.
