The problem with psychology is that it's descriptive but it isn't predictive. It will be replaced by neuroscience in the coming decades.

Mostly because of everything you just listed. Most people on /sci/ have an amateur grasp of Psychology. They're no better than housewives who watch Oprah and Dr. Phil and think they know how it all works. Really, this applies to almost every other topic discussed on /sci/. They just have an easier time of dismissing Psych.
