hey /sci/ highschool fag here.

Got a guy from some university near by coming in to give us a talk about astrophysics on thursday.

He takes questions at the end, any ideas for slightly troll questions I could ask him? will post his replies on thursday.

>> No.2702693

Ask him:
>Did Got create the Big Bang?

He'll answer about a proton / Hydrogen atom (I'm not in astrophysics and barely remember the class to be honest).

>Did God create the proton / Hydrogen atom that led to the Big Bang?

>Where is Heaven in the Universe?

Why don't you pay attention, learn something, and not be a dick?

If the sun has a lifespan of about ten billion years, and the universe is about thirteen billion years old, how come we can see supernovas that happened ten billion years ago?

right, will ask these.

Any more? don't miss an opportunity to troll an astrophysics lecturer.

I will pay attention, just at the end you get a chance to ask questions, and my prof. told us to get some decent'ish questions to ask at the end

Listen to this guy.

Read my post, I will pay attention, christ.

Just thought it'd be mildly entertaining at the end to ask a few troll questions.

>> No.2702748

>>2702724

Then why don't you ask some decent questions instead of troll questions? Trust me, you'll be the only one laughing if you do this stupid shit. Everyone else will just think you're a dick. And they'll be right.

Say that "dark energy" and "dark matter" are poetic names to hide the fact that Einstein's works are irrelevant and barely scientific.

How will I be the only one laughing if the prof. told me to get some questions?

Honestly, the guy won't mind, and i'm sure a few people will be entertained as he tries to answer.

It will just be annoying for people who are interested. You'll look like a total douche, or more probably a moron if people think you are serious with your shitty questions..

Do you really think you can be smarter than an astrophysics lecturer ?

>> No.2702771

Ask him if he thinks the universe is flat or curved. It's not a troll question but it gives some pretty troll answers.

>> No.2702778

>>2702764

Lol.
It's a class of 5 people, i'm sure they won't mind.

I'll see what kind of questions other people have beforehand anyway and if they have relevant ones then i'll think of some decent ones.

Dude chill the fuck out. Asking mildly troll questions is always a laugh, and can stimulate proper scientific discussion if they're not epic faggotry like >>2702693

Also, ask him how astrophysics relates to quantum mechanics. If his answer is anything other than 'we don't know' he's trolling you.

Warning: bringing up quantum mechanics in anything other than a quantum mechanics discussion might make you look like a prick.

ask him;

"According to relativity, your mass increases as you approach the speed of light. So say you're going 99% the speed of light where does this mass come from?
Do the atoms in your body somehow gain "more mass" without any new particles appearing, or do random particles start appearing in your organs/bloodstream wreaking havoc on your body?"

I genuinely would like to know.

Also ask him "Is there any way to break the 2nd law of thermodynamics?"
If he says no. Ask "then how did the big bang work?"

nice, cheers bro

Since mass and energy are interchangeable, the energy used towards approaching light-speed is converted into mass. As you approach light-speed you will become infinitely dense, and infinitely more energy to get closer to the speed of light.

Or something like that. I haven't taken a physics class in a while.

stick around on thursday if you have time, i'll have your answers :)

Print out troll science .jpgs and stuff them in his files/notes/whatever when he looks away.

He will be trolled home, softly.

>>2702824

Ask yourself what mass is. Mass essentially is the amount of energy an object has. The mass of an object is defined in relation to how the object is affected by various forces. Thus when you "gain mass" when traveling at near light-speed, nothing is added to you but energy, and you are now affected by certain forces more than you were before.

protip: if you ask a really broad, far-reaching question about topics that are way above your level of understanding as a highschool student like "how do quantum mechanics and astrophysics relate to each other" or "is space flat or curved" he will just give a really broad, general answer that will be a waste of everyone's time.
Precise questions like >>2702715 are far better.
