IMO a revamped political system would contribute the most to mankind in this day and age. I suppose that would mean an overhaul of the mass media/social infrastructure. All this new technology is useless if you have a shit tier government controlling it.

You can't be serious, right?

The planet is strained enough with 7 billion people on it, if you can't see why a lot of people need to die every day, then your aspergers is very, very strong.

State your specific objection so I can dismantle your hopelessly backwards thinking.

To start with, I present statistics and math that refute the nonsense that is Malthusian thinking courtesy of one of my favorite commentators:

An engineered end to aging also depends on new technology. We're talking about potential future improvements here, not conditions under the current status quo. No improvement occurs in a vacuum.

birth rates have declined in western nations by and large due to feminism and other sociological factors.

even if the majority of the immortal choose not to reproduce, there will always be some who do, and in that situation where the population is only growing and not being stabilized through death, the cumulative effects over time will be completely unsustainable.

not even going to get into the whole quality of life issues. given the resources of the planet only a certain percentage can live a western standard of life there simply isn't enough resources on the entire planet for everyone to live under the same standard of a developed nation.

as weird or cruel as it sounds a certain number of people have to starve to death every year to prevent everyone from starving to death.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20426616

Also, our problem is not a lack of resources, it's an extremely poor distribution thereof. A vast majority of everything is concentrated within a tiny portion of the population (<1%) - fixing the inequity will ensure that we can sustain at least three or four times Earth's current population.

By the time we do approach the actual carrying capacity of this planet centuries down the line (estimated to be between 15 and 20 billion...even if you don't like the experimental technology discussed in the blog post I linked, the raw data regarding population densities are absolutely correct), we'll have either developed the technology to spread outward or overcome any desire to engage in further reproduction.
