What are my chances?

I'm a junior, but I already know a lot of the stuff I'm doing in my senior year (club elections already took place)

GPA: 3.95 unweighted (going to take 13 AP tests, 2/2 5s so far and will probably 13/13 5s)
SAT: 2330 (800 math, 750 CR, 780 Writing)
SAT2: 800 Math 2, 790 USH, hopefully: 800 Bio, 800 Chem
ECAs:
1) President of Science Club - in club 3 years
2) Captain of Quiz Team (2nd place international school for KMO) - in club 4 years
3) Treasurer of Community Service Club - in club 4 years
4) Secretary of Math Tutorial Club - in club 4 years
5) Debate Club - in club 2 years
6) NHS - in club 2 years
7) Piano accompanist for choir - 1 year
Sports (yes, I'm very asian):
1) Varsity Badminton - 4 years (Co-captain senior year, but was too late to put in resume)
2) Varsity Table Tennis - 2 years
Awards/Competitions:
1) USABO semi-finalist
2) School-wide Distinction in Science Award (won 2 times, awarded to top student in each grade)
3) Distinction in ABRSM Piano Grade 8 (highest score in Shanghai out of around 1000 people)
4) Distinction in ABRSM Music Theory Grade 5
5) Awards in Pascal, Cayley, and Fermat math contests (top 5 in school for all)
6) Did alright on the AMCs (almost AIME)
7) Finalist in school-wide short story competition
Summer:
Fresh-Soph: 1) Internship at Wuxi Pharmatech 2) Internship at law firm
Soph-Jun: 1) Biomedical Science Camp at UPenn
Jun-Sen: 1) Biomedical research internship program at Stanford

Hook: commitment to sciences (especially bio-related)? nothing too spectacular though
Gender: male
Ethnicity: Malaysian-Chinese

I know its impossible to determine whether or not I'm in or not, but I'd appreciate some feedback nonetheless.

Harvard sucks.

You try too hard :/

You seem to be just enough of an automated drone to join harvard. congratulations.

yeah, i'm jelly

None of that matter unless you contribute to science when you're older.

What's your weighted gpa?

>> No.2647292

Holy shit.

Yes, your chances are very good. You're precisely the kind of kid Harvard wants.

Though I have to say that assuming you're going to get 5's on 13/13 AP tests because you got them on 2 is not valid. Especially not if one was the AP bio test, because that one is really easy for some reason.

Still, good job dude.

It's not guaranteed, there are a lot of other factors to take into account. Especially his weighted GPA, which he has yet to answer.

This is now a strict asian thread.

Wait, so all that GPA bullshit /sci/ brags about all the time is a pre-university mark?

Come on guys, what you call ECAs, are hobbies, you list them to inflate your curriculum, but most of them have absolutely no value.

Well of course it's not guaranteed, but I'm still willing to say he has a great shot at it.

Given that he has 5's on the AP tests he took, and given that this kid is quite obviously not lazy, we can reasonably assume he's done very very well in his AP classes. Those will throw his weighted GPA so much that I doubt it would come in under a 4.0

>>2647338

They have value to college admissions boards.

I also don't have the numbers to support this, but I'm fairly certain that /sci/'s regular crowd is predominately undergraduate students. You'll mostly see the high school kids on the weekends. I'm not sure precisely what the GPA bragging you're talking about is, because I (thankfully) haven't seen any of those stupid threads around in a while. Since it's 4chan, you should also assume that people inflate those numbers anyway, and I can tell you that just about everyone who claims to have a PhD here is full of shit.

Hey OP, just here to point out that I got an 800 on critical reading.

Linguistic master race. U jelly?

If OP were in fact not a dirty liar, he would be able to go anywhere he wants. He should probably go somewhere he'd get a full ride, which would be many places.

Children, do you ever wonder why applications always ask for UNWEIGHTED gpas? Because no one gives a crap about your weighted gpas. Many schools don't even practice it, so it's not comparable. The scale stops at 4.0.

Wait a minute, is OP not even in university yet?

Pretty much all students at Ivy league schools who get in by means other than nepotism have a large portion of tuition, room and board paid for, if not all of it.

just kidding, if you're going for biomedical sciences it's fine, you have a 55% chance
