This math problem is kicking my ass:
The coolant in a car radiator is a mixture of antifreeze and water. The recommended mixture for your car is 50% antifreeze. If you have a mixture of 7 liters of coolant that is 40% antifreeze, how much antifreeze should you add to bring the mixture up to the recommended level?

Too easy.
Please, try this on your own. If you really, REALLY need help, consult your teacher.

I honestly don't mind help threads, but...some things are just below even /sci/; and frankly, not doing this yourself is demeaning.

1,4 liters of antifreeze?

40% of the 7 liters is antifreeze so its 2,8 liters which means that there is (7 - 2.8 = Y)liters of water, so (Y =4.2) liters. You want a 50% mix so just add antifreeze until both quantities are the same ( 2,8 + X = 4,2) -> (4,2 - 2,8 = X) X = 1,4 liters, and this is the amount of antifreeze you should add.

Idiocracy is a fucking stupid film that perpetuates the delusion of dysgenics, making people think it exists outside a select few isolated incidences.

This is middle school shit

7*.4 + x*1 = .5(x+7)

solve for x (which is in liters)

lol

What you want is 50% of 7L, which is 3.5 L.
Right now you have 40% of 7L, which is 2.8L.

3.5 - 2.8 = 0.7L So add 0.7L of Antifreeze.

QED, bitches.

Now, I think that's unfair. I was in algebra when I was only twelve.
And to answer your question, OP is just an idiot.
