My friend loves statistical analysis and RPGs, and wants a game that'll let him go totally hog wild analyzing all the different variables. Do you guys have any suggestions? I'm not really a gamer so I have no idea.

Eve Online.

Micromanage everything. I have a spreadsheet that I can update with prices across the Universe and helps with come up with efficient trade routes to haul around mods.

With that income, I go kill people who do the exact same thing.

Drakensang 1&2

Or even better, the Realms of Arkania trilogy that happens in the same world, ie. Blade of Destiny, Star Trail and Shadows Over Riva.

But if he wants to die of spreadsheet-related happiness, then Darklands.

Ask /tg/, they're the experts on wasting your life playing RPGs.

Sounds like that guy would have a ball with Eve.
If things get too out of control he could be running that game in 10 different monitors.

/tg/ is made of experts on topic of posting unrelated shit and bawwing about it getting deleted.

DF is extremely advanced, but the variables aren't all visible to the player.

Not part of the original argument, but Mr.>>2619365 did generalize all RPGs as time-wasters, and Mr.>>2619400 attempted to show him that while some RPGs may be time-wasters, some are not.

This is a generalization. You clearly have zero reading comprehension skills.

Ahem, to actually stay on topic, instead of posting about reading-comprehension, Nethergate and Avernum are pretty stats-heavy indie rpgs from Spiderweb.

Also Eschalon.

>> No.2619604

>>2619596

Actually this is an excellent suggestion. I personally recommend Avernum II, and also Geneforge. You can buy them (LOL!) from spiderwebsoftware.com, or dl the demo and google a keygen to unlock the whole game.

Yup, was going to say exactly this.
In fact, this is the great failure of Eve -- the gameplay is really nothing more than solving a spreadsheet. All the battles are just point-and-click, and the winner is the guy who has wasted the most hours of his or her life building up stats.
