Can we get a gear thread going?
I'm shopping for pencils and erasers and misc. crap like that.

About me:
I prefer 0.3mm mechanical pencils with 2B lead.
Grid paper and ruled legal pads, not notebooks.

Typical mathfag gear:
Any pencil will do, usually generic BIC
0.5mm HB
Wear down the erasers until gone
White block erasers from Staples
Homemade notebooks of bound white printer paper (I hate ruled paper for math)

Erasers highly recommended

Ooh, I had one of those, but the black plastic broke and it was not to be fixed...
I'm currently using the Stadler 925.
I've also used the Ohto SuperPromecha 1500 but din't really like it. too big.

I'm so used to 0.3mm lead but it's so expensive and hard to find.

enjoy your endless broken leads OR having to advance the lead every 2 minutes because you can't let more than 1 mm out of the barrel without it snapping

Pencils are for losers who make mistakes. Once took a programming midterm in pen where one of the questions made you write a ~2 page program (by hand, on a piece of paper).

DAT ERASER

Yeah the limit of how many of those I've bought as time approaches infinity, equals infinity.

Also.... .3mm lead? Is this a fucking joke? A bad horrible math troll? I cannot go ANY fucking lower than .7mm..... If I was left with nothing but .5mm pencils I would use them to stab my eyes out.

And I am the only person in all of my classes, math, economics, who uses a pencil. The fucking only. And at a high tier uni too. Feels weird man.

Anyone have any recommendations for a good .3mm pencil?
Or lead for that matter/
I have been interested in getting one for a while, but haven't a clue where to start.

Currently using a Pilot-Namiki 78G with fine 0.5mm nib, gonna get a nicer pen sometime in the near future. This one works great though.

Not to mention sharpening a pencil is a sensory experience comparable to the best sex you've ever had.

DAT GRAPH PAPER

>> No.2607474

fancy pencil wont make you more intelligent. I use normal wooden pencil and win all the time.

>> No.2607477

I prefer .7mm. I never have to do any accurate drawings/drafts, so durability is the only thing I need to worry about, and for that, .7mm obviously wins.

>> No.2607479

>>2607477
Can't say I frequently break any .5mm when writing with it. You must be pushing down with herculean strength. Same type of thing that ruins fountain pens, too.

>> No.2607490

>>2607479

Its just that with .7mm I don't have to worry at all about breaking lead. With .5mm I notice more breakages and if I am tired or writing really fast I have to concentrate a little bit more. I can see getting used to .5mm, but there's just no point for me.
