If you'd never seen or heard of kangaroos before, I could totally convince you these were aliens.

>> No.2596205

cuz they totally dnt have synapomorphies w other animals on Earth

>> No.2596209

You could say the same about most animals.

>> No.2596214

Most aquatic life, corals and fungi and crap like that, are pretty alien.

They look like they meet the criteria of a vertebrate, notochord and pharyngeal slits aside.. although I can't see their thyroid gland, either...
I would probably classify them as a mammal, what with the fur and all...
Further examination would confirm for 3 middle ear bones and mammary glands.

Three hearts, can change its camoflage to anything in a split second - which it can also communicate with, weird W-shaped eye, yeah...

You'd think this was an alien.

Does it have a concept of real numbers? Is its logic scrutible to humans. for an alien to have traveled to earth its need both of these. Those animals have neither so they cannot be aliens in our shared objective natural world according to the laws of physics.

At least use a weirder animal, like the duck billed platypus. The academics actually thought it was a blatant hoax joke when it was first presented.

I hate the fact that whenever people try to come up with concepts for aliens they are always mishmashes of animals or anthropomorphized mishmashes of animals. Same goes for the various types of monsters. Are we really not creative enough to come up with a unique alien or monster? Is our psyche so limited in that it falls back on this? If we did ever come into contact with an alien and in case it was made of matter able to reflect light in the human spectrum we would be able to see it. However, it would not look like a Grey or fucking Chtulhu.

<3 when other people post under this name. It's my secret evil plan to get everyone posting under this name in /sci/.

Actually I think it may be the only way to get rid of obnoxious namefags. Take away their petty attempt at 4chan internet stardom.
