I have the solution to the world's problems.

Currently, the world runs on money. Whoever has the most money wins. It's like a point system.

I like money. Everybody does, it makes life convenient. The fact of the matter is, when money is the main counter of points, people will do unethical things to gain the most points.

What we need to do is implement another form of "points" that are awarded based on goodwill. These points will be more valuable than money. Money will still exist, but it will no longer be the main system of scoring that humanity uses.

Discuss.

>> No.2586844

As long as the welfare state keeps paying my bills, you can do whatever you want.

>> No.2586853

that would require some sort of superior judges, not biased in any way, like some gods, to award points. that is the system on which religion is based, and to religious people these "points" given by God are more important than earthly money. you can't have a god on earth.

>> No.2586864

>>2586853

well, we could have a system defined that everybody agrees on.

lets say that getting first in a science fair in high school gives you 2 points.

or saving a babby from a burning building would be worth 10 points.

feeding 10 people for 10 days would count as 100 points.

>> No.2586879

and when two people argue over who saved the babby from the fire, who will judge, and how could you assure the judge's impartiality?

>> No.2586892

And how do you have PROOF of this?

>> No.2586898

>>2586892

look motherfuckers, this is just a suggestion.

find holes and find ways to improve them.

>> No.2586916

>>2586898
If you're going to make this suggestion, you should've thought of some of the obvious flaws and filled them up already.

>> No.2586922

>>2586879

You need to have proof to earn the points. Video, eyewitnesses. etc.

If you are ever caught lying about something, you lose 3x the amount you would have gained and have a black mark on your record.

>> No.2586941

>>2586832
what's science or math related about this?

>> No.2586957

but you haven't answered the judge question. judges can't be accused of lying, as they state their opinion on a specific matter, opinion of which they can be in no way certain. just like our current society, you don't hear of judges going to jail because they didn't give the "right" verdict.

>> No.2586976

>>2586957

simple,

Every once in a while we would have people audit the people who give judges.

if they see any suspicious patterns in the judge's approvals, they would ban him from ever giving points again.

Also, the judges would play a minimal part and award a very small proportion of points. In addition to dollar wages, people would get points for doing their jobs.

>> No.2586987

>>2586976

so working at Mcdonalds, while it would not pay much, would award points based on the social value of the service provided.

sounds like a hair-brained scheme hatched by some dipshit stoner

>> No.2587015

>>2586994

Take reddit for example.

People karma whore all the time and repost shit all the time.

Why?

Karma.

Take chuck E cheeses. They give kids tickets, kids want to have lots of tickets.

in the real world we have money. if we make the main point system for the real world be something other than money, we will have a more ethical society.

>> No.2587009

>>2586976
then who would award most of the points? and who would control the people who gave points? you see, it all comes down to corruption in the end. no matter if money or some other value, there will always be corruptible people.

>> No.2587028

>>2587009

we will have a well defined point chart for the distribution of 99% of the points.

working will pay a dollar salary plus however many points are agreed on BY FUCKING EVERYBODY. Voted and approved by 95% of the population

>> No.2587047

>>2587015
No, we just have a society where the karma/ticket/money whoring is just done for something else.

>> No.2587058

>>2587047

so lets find a system of points that's fair and that doesn't encourage unethical behavior

but who will distribute the points? who will man the huge computers that store peoples' scores? that is the corruptible one.

>> No.2587086

Like money, this point system will make people selfish. Scientists would only keep to themselves instead of collaborating for the sake of mankind's progress, people could even set fire to buildings just to earn points by then saving people etc etc.

>> No.2587100

a real issue here is getting this system to work. It should probably start as an equal value or a little bellow money, so that the rich people with "lots of points" don't use their "points" to disencourage this, as they will know it would prejudice their social life.

As times goes by ( casablanca), when people realise how wonderful this works, it could raise value those " points". The diffuclt thing is make a chart saying how m uch points each thing is worth.

The main problem is people who will take advantage of this, by lying and having a fake witness saying that they did a wonderfull thing. how can you prove it was a lie ? you cant.

any way, i think is best if everyone just walk the dinassaur

SO is the topic of discussion: how this hypothetical social environment would affect scientists?

You can only do this so many times. After someone says they saved babby from fires for the fifth time, someone will raise an eyebrow

inflation inflation inflation

There is if people rack up points without "spending" them.

>> No.2587396

Your problem is that the points are not worth anything so there is no incentive to collect them. With money, each dollar is a share in all the goods and services available. Even if you made these points legal tender, inflation would occur as no goods or services would be produced as the best way to earn points is through kindly deeds, not work.
