I know it has something to do with electrons that exist in each atom. the electrons exist like everywhere and anywhere and have north and south poles all over. Somehow these line up, orientate themselves one way or another, along some electric charge, creating a magnetic field.

Anyone who can form the most simple and precise explanations becomes king of my thread.

But they 'why' is much more interesting. There are many things about magnets at the subatomic level that we don't yet fully understand. So rather than asking why we can only witness some universally observable laws.

And that is why the question posed by ICP is not so stupid after all.
