Currently attending Purdue University.

I am attending the same school, attaining the same degree and am a member of the same fraternity (Phi Delta Theta), as Neil Armstrong.

My sole purpose is to further humanity. It is all I have ever dreamed of.

I obsess over the moment I move our species forward in our galactic expansion.

This will happen, my beloved, beloved, /sci/entists.

Look to the stars my brothers, it is time to explore the Cosmos from whence we came.

Sorry

You were born about 200 years too early

I am sure you'll do great at nasa developing better material for temperpedic mattresses though

There are glories to be had in our lifetime, you must be willing to open your mind to them.

Also, honestly.

>Implying any future conjecture of technology was ever correct.

Look at the "honest futuristic opinion" was of people in the 50's.

You know who else went to Purdue? Gus Grissom.

He died in a fire and barely anyone outside of NASA/Purdue remembers him. Here's hoping things turn out better for you.

d'awwww urite :(

but people know who gus grissom is.

Galactic Exploration is a silly mind exercise and feel good distraction. Like getting to the moon. There's no profit to be had on the moon, no resources, just dust, rocks, and a distraction feel good outlet for the Cold War era b.s.

That's why we're never going to Mars, much less anywhere else off this rock. Travel to Mars isn't economically viable, nor do we need it for the entertainment.

And besides, when we run out of helium sometime in the next 150 years, We'll be out of our means to fueling the rockets.

Not that I don't enjoy Velcro or Tang or other such commercially viable bi-products of NASA and the Space Race.

Doesn't the moon contain helium-3 which in theory could be used as a new energy source?

That was from a motion picture "Moon".

Who gives a fuck? Just get a group of like-minded nerds.

I don't want to repeat the rant again: diamond mechanosynthesis, molecular assemblers, "lol I can write the assembler blueprints so I'm independent from you fuckheads Imma explore the galaxy".

I think a prerequisite to space exploration is being able to establish PRIORITIES OP.

Things you need before you explore space in somewhat this order:
1. A longer fucking lifespan and you need your planet of origin to remain functional for long enough for you to leave it. (food and energy concerns we're dealing with right now fit here)
2. A reliable means of not being stuck on a planet's surface
3. A reliable means of not turning into jelly while in space that is not exercising 12 hours a day.
4. A means of propulsion which isn't staunchly opposed by the majority of people (rest in peace nuclear, I has a sad)
5. Something to cope with all the dammed debris floating around everywhere.

Well if you're >>2574909, I don't see that happening.

Actually Helium-3 exists and IS a potential new energy source

You completely ignorant fuck.
