If everything natural must have a cause, doesn't that imply the First Cause was supernatural?

>> No.2559821

Who said there needed to be a First Cause? Besides, nobody's used those Four Proofs in seriousness in a long time. They were refuted decades, if not centuries ago.

Also, in response to your picture, Descartes was obviously pandering to the crowd that had excommunicated Galileo and killed off Socrates. Philosophers are a thinking lot. Besides, his proof for God was ridiculously lazy.

What did Leonardo da Vinci invent? Seriously. What.

Isaac Newton held himself back because of his own religious thinking. It was another 100 years before Laplace extended his work, which would've been a piece of cake to to someone like Newton had he not said "hurr durr the rest HAS to be done by God".

who said there is only one supernatural cause? there could be more (even if i doubt)
and the causes don't have to be linear, imagine a loop, paradox but sounds better than this supernatural thing

It is PURPOSE that creates. PURPOSE is the cause of all physic laws and the big bang.

about yer picture, just because 3 great thinkers claimed to be believers in god, in no way states that god has to exist. none of them drove cars, so by your logic, car drivers must not believe in calculus???
it is not Sci thats saying believers cant come play, its believers that say they wont come play because some of the games conflict with what they had seen on tv.
same thing happend whith the whole circle earth thing, but eventualy x-ians decided that teh "4 corners of the earth" line was metiphoric, so they cam back to play, now they are mad because they want the earth to b ecreated literaly in 7 days, just like the storry, else we wont play, and call you bad.
eventualy the 6days then rest, will be considerd a metiphore as well. then youll all come out and play and tell us to give your imaginary frind 10% of our money. and you know what DERP many sci will!

fuck off with your "random" asshole

we just don't know what forces are influencing them yet

Would it be in the nature of the supernatural to exist? If so, it is natural and needs a cause.

It's impossible to decide if something is random.

Perhaps. Let's find out.

> nat·u·ral
> existing in or formed by nature ( opposed to artificial): a natural bridge.
Hm, if there was a first cause that designed everything, then nothing natural can be the result of it, it would be designed, artificial.
> having a real or physical existence, as opposed to one that is spiritual, intellectual, fictitious, etc.
Oops, that leaves out religious stuff.
> arising easily or spontaneously
No need for a first cause at all there.
> happening in the ordinary or usual course of things, without the intervention of accident, violence, etc.
So divine intervention's out.

Looks like no, OP.
