why is our sun called "Sun" ? afaik every star is also a sun.
And why doesnt our moon have a name? I heard of some references of "Lunar" but everyone just calls it Moon.

and who the fuck called this planet EARTH? I mean all other objects in this solarsystem have got their names from ancient greek gods and others.

>> No.2557343

We named our home world after dirt. You think we actually give a fuck about names?

Humans are so ignorant, they should call the planet "magma", that would be so much more logical but you humans are so feeble minded and called it earth because you're standing on earth.

*roll eyes*

I was watching avatar for the 6th time the other day and I realized that if only everyone was superior like me and other hipsters the world would solve all it's problems.

Sol, Luna, and Terra. In that order.

>why is our sun called "Sun" ? afaik every star is also a sun.
Because it's fundamental enough to our lives that there's a word just for it. It's not named after anything. Other stars are called "suns" by analogy to our own, whose name is Sun.

>> No.2557492

Originally, "Moon" was specific to our moon, but then people began using it generically. It's the same with "Sun." They're like "Kleenex" only without the trademark issue.

>> No.2557657

I thought "moons" were called natural satellites.
