/sci/, what should I major in?
I'm a freshman in the University of Minnesota, with grades high enough to transfer to almost any program.
It should have at least decent job opportunities.
I am willing to go to grad school if necessary.

Tell me your major, and why it is fucking awesome!

The way I understand it is that when you get to the theory portion of computer science, algorithms, advanced data structures... you'll be more than prepared to kick ass. At that moment you can shift ahead of the normal CS majors and advance at a faster pace without hitting as many walls as you would have other wise.

I majored in economics. Earlier today I was browsing khanacademy and saw he did a vid on peggin the chinese yuan to the dollar. It occured to me that despite writing a 20some page paper on this, that I didn't know a single fucking thing about it. lulz. major in economics, you only have to study like 10 hours a semester for each class you take.

If the first experience you have with physics is calculus based physics (REAL physics), you will be assraped at first. Go all out with studying from the very beginning. It might seem simple enough at first, but you will get fucked sooner or later if you get overconfident and slack off.

Oh God, this.
Calc 2 would give you a solid foundation for tackling on mechanical physics. Vector calculus in addition to this, will make the class easy to not so bad difficulty.
Definitely take vector calculus before EM, though, otherwise shit will be hard.

OP of the advice here....

Why is vector calc not a requirement for E&M? It really should be. Consider the history of how E&M was developed. Vector calculus sprung up and was immediately used. The creation of vector calc along side the birth of E&M was no accident.

Quant finance is dead right know. I know many that have been laid off, plus i think they know any code monkey can do most of that shit in C++ or Matlab. Curry niggers are taking all those jobs.
