Hey /sci/

Im an average guy who was planning on enlisting right after high school and just realized how dumb that would be. Anyways long story short never thought of being anything else so dont really know what else Id like to do.

Anyway Im going to be going to a Community College when I graduate this year and was wondering what a good degree would be. Something to ensure a decent job with decent pay (not looking to become a millionaire just to live comfortably and raise a family). Im pretty average with math but with study can do well and I also enjoy sciences. Again not a genius or one of the smart guys just an average dude looking for some guidance.

Help?

something in biology - possibly a lab tech

>> No.2534265

Belongs in adv.
Your first two years are all prereqs anyways you have time to figure out what you want outta a college education

Out of curiosity would you guys say with plenty of study and hard work that physics could be a viable option for me, or is that more suited for math wiz type people?

Also what kind of jobs can you get with a bio/chem degree

You can do anything if you study hard enough - biochem gets you into lab work generally, Lab techs, research assosiates, research - you could even go onto your PhD etc...

woops, also forgot to mention a lot of failed medics go into biochem and attempt to once again prove themselves to their university and can often get a transfer onto a med course

Awesome thanks guys I really appreciate the info.

physics is awesome. sure, it is hard but once you get it, you'd remember it forever.
you can always swtich from physics to other areas for graduate school

well according to what you said I'd go to a field of engineering as it's not to math heavy and will probably get you a good paying job.

aerospace engineering will probably get you the most cash for the least effort.

physics is not as hard as math (for me) and i think anyone can get a degree with enough hard work (unlike math).

>> No.2534573

i actually find physics harder than math. at least my math students manage to get solid foundation in class. theoretical physics for me, requires a lot of self-study in mathematics, like algebra, differential geometry, topology et al.

friends, not students. typo
