I think Carl Sagan's contributions are very underrated - he inspired, and will continue to inspire generations after generations to help the humanity to get past the dark ages of ignorance, superstition and stupidity.

Have MS in Geology, got an awarded PHD in Petroleum Geology(which I don't actually think is as good as an actual PHD because they don't require coursework).

I am an imperialist. I think that humanity should spread to the stars and bring the fury and glory of war with it.

I am religious.

I think that guy is overrated by kids because he was their basic introduction to science. Though that is not to say he was not a good scientist himself. Just that his often subjective statements and appeals to "wonder" and "elegance" are no more objective appealing to supernaturalism. Also supernaturalism is not the same as superstition, supernaturalism does not necessarily expect or desire any evidence for supernatural. Superstition is the expectation of physical effects derived from the supernatural.

Dark Ages are called dark not because their is less technical development, but rather because the tend to write more about past ages than their own. Therefore making the age dark because we have less information about that age from original sources.

And frankly if Sagan's vision for the peaceful future based on brotherhood is what happens to people in the Light, then I think that I prefer the Dark.

Bullshit me harder kid.

Fine, if you don't like the "future on brotherhood" angle, you can go deeper into space, then. The option is available to you, that's what we're going for. Everyone can do what they want out there. I really don't see what the problem is.

I agree, but I have to give him 4/10 since I wrote such a long response. I really wish I didn't.
