>Cancer is an evolutionary throwback, resembling early multicellular life, and flourishes when the more evolutionarily recent genes that regulate cellular cooperation fail.

Well, shit (if that's true).

>rather high degree of cooperative organization among cancer cells. The most striking example of this is angiogenesis, in which an entire tumor builds its own blood supply for the common good of all the tumor cells.

How is this not obvious?
Cells gave up their independence for the multicellular organism.
Cancers are mutations where cells regain their independence and replicate freely.

Metaphorically speaking. Cells in multicellular organisms have mechanisms for apoptosis, that is, they will "kill themselves" if they are harmful to the larger organism.

Anyways, I was a bit rash with my original statement. After reading the article, I realized that they are advancing the theory that cancers are not just rogue mutated cells, but merely cells reverting to older multicellular behaviors.

Cancer cells are libertarian cells fighting against the oppressive rule of the oppressive authoritarian communist Body.

mfw we already have a cure for cancer but we aren't ready to release it yet. which i unfortunately agree with.

we need like, at least 40% of the population wiped out before we start super-breeding.
