Lithium, it has the highest specific heat capacity of any element except hydrogen. And its like a gagillion times more dense and a solid at room temperature and has a melting point at 180° so it makes for an excellent thermal battery.

It is the only element I know of that is both a fissile and fusion fuel. (might enplane why there is so little of it in the universe) btw it is a key fuel in fusion bombs which don't run of hydrogen they run off lithium hydride

Lithium + fluorine is the most energy dense practice rocket fuel mostly because lithiums relatively low melting point. It's isp is 542s compared to HH+O thats only 450s and lithium is like a million times more dense.
As humanity spreads to the stars I foresee lithium being one of the precious metals most sought after.

I want to make a case in the shape of the periodic table of elements, and each box will be filled with a small amount of each element.

Collecting elements would probably be the coolest thing you could possibly collect.

>> No.2492355

il/lit/erate here,

Would you guys have any suggestions on where to learn more about each individual element?

I have this idea for a story about guys who control elements(you know, the generic 4 element bullshit stuff like Avatar and other shows/video games pull, except with each guy having control of an element on the periodic table instead).

Everything up to iron is produced in the cores of increasingly large stars, in order to produce elements heavier than iron the star needs to explode because iron fusion is endothermic.

Truth told. People say life is water based but carbon based is a better description. You can't do shit without carbon. In theory carboned based chemical reactions can take place in a solution of liquid methane or liquid nitrogen but you can't have silicon based life or germanium based life, they do fuck all.

There was also an anime that did this, Seikon no Qwaser.

It has an absurd amount of fanservice, mainly because their powers were charged by breastmilk, and the fact that the main characters were a 14 year old boy and a loli voiced by Haruhi.

nice bluff but your off by a way.

Carbon catenates like a boss, it's the best at catenating it is the second most prolific in number of compounds second only to hydrogen.

catenation (ability to make bonds)

Silicon doesn't do it cos its more favourable in an oxygen enviroment to form Si-O bonds than chaining.

In an oxygen deprived atmosphere it would caternate as well.

The reason silicon based life is difficult is three fold.

Water is a great solvent.

Oxygen makes protein esque shite easy.

Carbon is so much better at what it does and is more abundant.
