Let's get some Kimiko in here.

That comic is everything I dislike about "transhumanists." It's drawn by some dropout who watched too much sci-fi growing up and mistakenly thinks his prole ass is going to benefit from future technologies.

But don't the great majority of the members of a society benefit from it's technological advancement anyway, at least if you compare western society backwards with, say, a fifty year gap between each? Any a lot of transhumanist philosophy goes on about how such key technologies ought to be employed to most benefit society and the people parttaking it, though I agree that a lot of the people who don't actually read up on it and just pick it up through pop culture assume that they'll be at the forefront with not work or inital genetic or social resource to invest. But Dresden Codak is generally a story about a intellectually resourceful person, if not socially, who tries to live out the transhumanist ethos because she believes it to be the best both for herself and mankind.

Besides, the whole Hob arch is about the consequences of technological hubris where people just live of the benefits of a technologically advanced society without contributing to it.

As many have said before, the only good thing about this comic is that it has generated a new set of rule 34

sadly, that set is very very very small
