Question /sci/ When I give ground state electron configurations for transition metals, what comes first? Say I have Cobalt. Would it's electron configuration be [Ar]4s^2 3d^7 or [Ar]3d^7 4s^2 Or is it not important?

When I give ground state electron configurations for transition metals, what comes first?

Say I have Cobalt.

Would it's electron configuration be [Ar]4s^2 3d^7 or [Ar]3d^7 4s^2

Or is it not important?
