So guys, who are your favorite scientists and mathematicians?

Obama answered this question (dropped obscure names)

why can't you?

Einstein: do I need to explain why?

All Scientists: Science stands on the shoulders of the science and philosophy that came before it.

ps: do i lose points for naming scientists people have heard of? is this a, "name obscure scientists to be hipster cool" thread?

I have secondary favorites like einstein, jack kilby, newton, and benjamin franklin.

However, my ultimate supreme favorite is, and will always be, Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci,

Not that I need to defend this choice, but I'm so enamored with this man I feel justified in listing his accomplishments.

He took to explaining the world in a rational and systematic way, you might consider him the first scientist. His anatomical drawings are so accurate they are still used to this day. He made realizations and innovations centuries before the concepts became mainstream, i.e. flight, physiology, robotics etc.

possibly the greatest person to ever live.

Question.
Can I be my favorite scientist?
Seriously why would I chose someone else over myself (how low does one's self esteem have to be)?

Anyway if not, I would have to go with Schrödinger.
