Hello /sci/, it's been a while.

I'm working on a project that requires use of ASTM standardized testing procedures. However, on visiting the ASTM site I find they're asking for quite a bit of money to share knowledge of what should be an international standard procedure. My search for a presentation of the material that is a bit more 'cost effective' has returned nothing. Now, certain that /r/ wouldn't even know what ASTM standards are, I turn to you, /sci/...

Are there any clever /sci/ducks out there that have access to a (preferably complete) library of ASTM specifications, testing procedures, and terminology that are willing to share this via /rs/ or other means to needful engineers?

Self bump, because I want this so badly.

C'mon, /sci/, I know there have to be some engineers out there who aren't afraid to share some standardized information for a brother in need.

For the sake of SCIENCE, somebody respond!

Try to get an inter-system library loan. My capstone design project was in turbine design. There was a testing standard out, the IEC 60193. There were two in University libraries. We got one on loan from Switzerland, because the one at ARMY was being used.

Thank you, I hadn't though of that.

Still, I'm looking for a long list of procedures from sections B, D, and 21 test procedures from section G. I'm afraid between their doubtlessly limited availability and number I might not have access to all the information I need.

I'll keep the thread alive, hoping some generous and well informed engineer can point me in the direction of possibly acquiring a more complete collection of the extensive library of ASTM standards.

Please Help!

(Pic interesting, but unrelated. May begin dumping info to keep thread alive.)

Enginerd student here. Whenever i have to use them, almost always a professor has them or copies of them. Ask around your CoE would be my advice.

And /r/ would for sure not have these. haha

Indeed. To clarify my problem: The procedures I'm looking for are technically 'available' from the ASTM website, but require the expenditure of much coin to acquire. What I'm looking for is an alternative for acquiring this information that doesn't require such an expenditure.

In short: I want something for free that normally is not free. Because that which I seek is of extreme relevance to engineers the world over, I believe I may find that which I seek here. That which I seek is a complete and preferably up to date library of ASTM Standards and Procedures.

It is data, therefore it must exist for free on the Internet. Of this I am certain, I just need to know where to find it, and I hope someone here can point me in the right direction.

Pic unrelated.

Apologies, I'm not quite sure I understand you completely. But I will specify what it is I need.

Starting from the top, I need:

ASTM B276-05e1
ASTM B571-97(2008)e1
ASTM B611-85(2005)
ASTM B830-97(2003)
ASTM B895-05
ASTM B925-08

ASTM D4356

And All of ASTM Section 'G'.

My titles are derived from Wiki's "List of ASTM International Standards" so my nomenclature may be different depending on whether ASTM changes their naming scheme with differing volumes and updates (I'm sure they don't, as that would be silly, but still...).

Because of the sheer volume of information I need to reference, I'm looking to see if anyone has a complete volume of the stuff I can just torrent, or if there's a site which has the procedures free for reference so I can look up the ones I need specifically.

Again, thanks in advance, anyone who provides any sort of assistance. The expansion of the human body of knowledge thanks to your efforts is the reward I offer. For SCIENCE!

Respectively, those are:

Test method for apparent porosity,
Qualitative Adhesion testing
Test method for abrasive wear resistance of cemented carbides
Uniform test methods and frequency specifications
Corrosion resistance of stainless steel by immersion in a sodium chloride solution evaluation method,
Preparation of Powder Metallurgy test specimens

Practice for establishing consistent test method tolerances

and section G is a bunch of other test methods, of particular interest to me is G133, a test method for determining wear on a linearly reciprocating ball-on-flat sliding motion.

Again, many thanks to the bold and noble individual who aids me.

just a minute..I think that fro my colleges portal I can get them, but im not sure

If you can, that would be most helpful.
If there is any way to put the standards in any sort of easily transferable medium that would be outstanding.

If you can only hand-pick standards, the sections from G that I need the most are:

G1, G4, G7, G15, G31, G40, G44, G65, G73, G76, G81, G105, G111, G113, G132, G133, G134, G141, G174, and G190, with particular emphasis on G133.

Again, thanks for everything, even if your efforts prove fruitless.

A thousand thanks, my friend.

I'll probably be up for another hour or two and I'll do my best to keep the thread alive.

If it dies before I get a response from you, I'll re-make the thread some time around 8PM CST (I believe that's 2AM GMT). I'm not sure what time that translates to for you.

Again, thank you for your assistance, it was sorely needed and is much appreciated.

I don't know what all volumes you're looking for, but the first standard seems to be a part of Vol. 02.05 (something about powders, looks like). My school is smaller, so we don't have online access to the stuff, but my incredible searching skills lead me to a possibly viable source. I'm going to go check this crap out (read as: see if I can't find you something more specific than an 800+ Mb download).

If you work out the volumes you're looking for in more detail, reply and I'll try to expand the search.

>> No.2415299

I don't know how accurate or complete these are, but there's some torrents available at least:

http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4621704/ASTM_Standards_%282004%29

http://btjunkie.org/torrent/ASTM-2004-Standards/4432a99f293b48c1593fc11e0f7cfdae7bb36c832a9d

I tried looking through the resources my university has but it only has ASTM standards in book form. Nothing available for me to download and seed to you unfortunately.

Best of luck mate, this kind of thing has really become an annoyance to me. It's very difficult to get access to academic research for free and I really can't afford to pay for it, so in terms of being able to learn up-to-date information I'm fucked.

Same deal, links I found ended up all being dead for illegal/removed content. Not a terrible surprise given how friggin' expensive those things appear to be, but still a disappointment.

Checking for torrent sources, because it appears the only free, non-torrent sources on the internet all linked back to the same dead files.

I may have been mistaken.

Apologies, these links collectively are listed to be 1.7 Gb, which I take to mean the entire 2004 set of ASTM standards (somewhat luckily for you, one of your tests was discontinued in 2007, so this may still have it). The following links do seem to lead to a download.
