A force of 10N is applied to an object in the direction of the vector u=(2,2,3). What is the magnitude of the component of this force in the direction of v=ıˆ+(1/2)ȷˆ?

How can I go about this? When does the 10N come into play?

so the directional vector would be u = (2,2,3) from the origin.
find the projection from u to the vector v. in other words, what co-efficients of for the i and j components will result in the vector v to equal the i and j components of u.
then multiply the resulting co-efficients by a magnitude of 10N.

First normalize (2,2,3).
Then multiply it by 10N
Then you have a force vector.
Then normalize the vector (1,1/2,0)
Then find the projection of the force vector on that direction vector, which iirc you can do with just a dot product.
