Hello, /sci/. applying to the university gets closer and closer and i'm pondering like a bitch. But I am pretty sure I would like to study cognitive psychology / cognitive neuroscience. Are there any good literature for this kind of thing? And also, would any kind of degree in this field be useful, or would i just have to be a psychologist with a specialty?

You should take a look at A.J Montgomery "Cognitive cognition".Its not exactly "deep".More like a compendium. It will introduce you to the subject.

Are you looking for introductory literature, like books, or scientific literature like review articles on specific topics?

It's useful if brain research is what you want to do. About psychology / neuroscience, it boils down to what you are fundamentally interested in: the mind or the brain.

Introductory literature. I want to know what I really am up against if i study this.

And also, I'm mostly interested in the mind, and i wish to study it scientifically, things like consciousness and the biological explanation for it is something i find really interesting. just understanding our behaviour and subjective experiences through concrete science, and not symbolism and philosophy. And brain research is very intriguing, but i'm not that much of an idealist (it seems to be a tough and maybe somewhat unstable job, but what do i know) so i wish to have other options as well.
