Listen, faggots. I know that what they're saying is wrong when it is. Do I care? No. The Big Bang Theory isn't about content, it's about context. It's a humorous representation of the interpersonal relationships of people with vast differences in knowledge, mannerisms and prioritization. And believe it or not, it does a good job at the humanization of the "geeks".

So yes, I die a little inside every time I see sheldon on his Macbook. It's about how the little things connect, not how they are, though. And it is, unlike most shows, actually pretty funny. The writing is good, accuracy aside.

Also, the show is fun to watch. It's not accurate, and the jokes are designed to make you feel smart because you can understand them (aka. science jokes that everyone can understand)

I think that's mostly the problem I have with it. It makes people think they're smart. It deludes them in many cases. The end result is a number of people who learn pop culture science and, upon hearing a conversation about something like classical mechanics, will jump in with their take on m-theory.

Exactly. Sheldon has an incredibly fragile ego. He has an IQ of 187, but the fact that there are people still smarter than him can completely make him want to end it all. And he has to not only be the best in his field but his field must be superior to all other fields. Theoretical physics must be superior to experimental physics (leonard's field), making him defacto superior to leonard. He (like /sci/) regards all soft sciences as hokum, and regards himself not even in the same species as engineers.

All comedies play on human foibles, and this is one of the main foibles BBT plays on. The group has 3 physicists, and 1 engineer, whom they constant make superior. Meanwhile the 3 physicists haven't done anything particularly spectacular, while the engineer has built a mars rover, a ISS robot, and similar contributions.
