an arrow shot travels the half of the original distance, and then it travels another half of the distance, example: arrow shot from 10m it will travel half of that which is 5m, then another half of that which is 2.5m, half of that 2.5/2m, half of that..... etc.
QUESTION: does the arrow hits you?

>> No.2347632

by 'you' being less than 10M away.

>> No.2347641

Yes.

Question: An arrow is fired that will travel 20m. You're standing 10m away from the point of origin. The arrow hits you and you die.

>> No.2347655

but the arrow travels half the distance each time!!!!!

>> No.2347661

you're attempting to misrepresent the infinite divisibility of time as the infinite divisibility of space

if the distance is less than 10m you die
otherwise you survive

This. Is this old greece or what?

When the arrow hits, I hope it gets you on the nuts for being a troll.

>> No.2347716

We are going to have to go with units of speed not distance here.

Over what intervals of time does the arrow travel the aforementioned distances?

I hope I'm not the only one who doesn't understand this paradox. I don't even know WHAT the paradox is supposed to be. It doesn't make any fucking difference if the arrow has to keep travelling half the distance, its speed doesn't change so neither does its rate of progress.

Have I missed something?

Just feel like stalking you today. I posted the thread asking if you ever posted pics of yourself some time last week.

the problem is supposed to be that the arrow is so busy going half of the remaining distance to the target, that it never actually reaches the target

>> No.2347863

>>2347621

It doesn't travel half the original distance, because before it does that, it has to travel a quarter of the distance. And before it travels a quarter of the distance, it has to travel an eight of the distance, and so on. In conclusion, you can't even shoot the arrow.

>busy going half of the remaining distance

I don't think that's how arrows work, though.

A nice thought, but too bad it's flawed.
