>my boss used to be a Catholic but now is an atheist
>she watches a lot of history channel shows
>thinks aliens built the pyramids in egypt, mesopotamia and mesoamerica
>thinks the vikings were colonizing new england and minnesota
>says I'm close minded because I don't believe in fairy tales

How do you deal with these people, /sci/? At least with religion you can say "well neither of us can prove the other wrong, so let's just agree to disagree". But with this bullshit no matter how many times you show them proof that what they were told is bullshit, they still believe. It's infuriating.

Ask her what evidence would falsify her claim. If nothing would falsify her claims, then you can tell her that she's full of shit.

hmm? What was that?

Sell them merchandise and services that only idiots buy into. I still don't get why people hate these easily exploitable morons.

Just get a rock from a park and tell her you got it off some alien planet. Then sell it for 500 bucks. Profit off their retardation.

I agree. No matter how many times I show proof to people like OP that the bible is full of shit, they never listen.

Your boss has substituted one religion for another. If the discussions where she accuses you of being closed-minded are just discussions, fine. Otherwise, they are zealotry (yes, "atheists" can be zealots) and illegal most places. Your beliefs are none of here business. Open mindedness is one thing, but be careful your mind isn't so open your brain falls out.

Not in any modern western democracy.

Vikings *did* land in Newfoundland long before other European explorers. I don't know about New England, and I don't know about colonizing, but it's not that far away....

Did you misread that, or mistype that? Show your work - name one "modern western democracy" that does not guarantee freedom of belief, or disbelief, in whatever you want. I'll lay down so as not to fall out of my chair laughing.

One of us must be misreading it then. I read it as zealotry is illegal. I agree with you that in all modern western democracies you can be as zealous as you want, and it's not a crime.
