Scientists say dolphins should be treated as 'non-human persons'

are dolphins bros?

Do they consider monkeys "non-human persons"?
Chimpanzees are the true bros.

I once had dolphins swimming by my boat. So I stopped the motor. And they just circled. So I decided to jump in. Then the dolphins swam away, so I started the boat back up, and a few minutes later they were back. And the cycle repeated itself many times that afternoon.

I wish I had had a ball with mr, I would have tried playing catch instead.

When you pet a dolphin, they say not to touch the belly, a belly pat indicates you want to have sex, and apparently dolphins love sex.

Dolphins may be smart, almost like us, but like us, they aren't bros.
Think about it. Are most of humanity your bros?

No. The unfamiliar have just as likelihood of raping, mugging, or killing you as they are of befriending you.

Add to that that dolphins are probably racist against us due to us killing them accidentally in fishing nets.

Dolphins have been known to kill humans for a variety of reasons, but they've also been known to help humans as well, saving drowning swimmers or driving away hungry sharks.

They also gangrape other dolphins and kill for sport. Just like humans.

In summation, Dolphins are not reliable, so they cannot be bros. Until we have a meaningful, complex way to communicate with dolphins that will allow them to express their feelings, emotions, and opinions, we cannot call them bros.

So under that logic, NO humans can be 'bros'? You said some dolphins do help other humans, so they can be 'bros', just not all of them (same goes for humans).

That makes a lot of those animal documentaries* really suspicious in retrospective.

*A really novel concept, we used to have them back in the day. Footage of animals in the wild juxtaposed with explanatory commentary in the context of an educational narrative. Child born in the 90's - to your comprehension, the closest thing will be a reality show.

that concept gives me a mindfuck.

we must be able to communicate with them or somehow figure out what their language means in order to know for sure if they can be considered persons.

You don't get it, obviously. If some are bros and some are not, it is wrong to call the entire species "bros".

With humans, it is possible to use language, whether verbal or nonverbal to discern whether they have imminent hostile intent.

This is not so with Dolphins. A dolphin swimming towards you has the same stupid smile on his face whether he's just coming over to hang out or to ram your heart until it stops.

Because of this ambiguity, it is problematic to treat dolphins as potential bros. Rather, we should be wary of dolphins.

That "smile" is not an expression, it's due to the shape of their heads. Dolphins use nonverbal cues just like we do, it's just more difficult for a human to read a dolphin's body language.

Because, you know, it's a fucking dolphin.
