That is good money, but that job is HARD fucking work, generally requires strength, and conflicts with what a lot of science-minded people believe. I'd much rather get a phd in math because it is mentally stimulating, doesn't require strength (I have none), and it doesn't support the raping of natural resources. So, have fun with that, Mr. Troll.

I agree it probably gets boring after a while, but when you think about it, you basically get paid a shit load of money to go on road trips.

And if your so fucking worried about being "fulfilled" you can pass the time by listening to satellite radio, audio books, or whatever.

At 90 K a year, and no real overhead, like clothing, transportation, or living expenses I could easily do that for 10 years, and thanks to compound interest, come out of that a millionaire and retire.

Now that sounds like a degree with a solid future. I can't see that becoming useless when most of the developed world starts faffing around over green energy.

you better find a way to fall in love with whatever shit job you get. there are reasons why engineering jobs yield high income. i went into engineering purely for the money, but ive always been fascinated by how shit works and the practical implications of what i learn scientifically, and it just happened to be the best thing for me to do. other guys who end up with those "ooh 1 billions doll hairs right out of school" jobs are miserable, even if they are prepared for the workload (LOL maybe 2% of them). especially if its a competitive field of engineering, you would not be chilling on 4chan if you stand a chance at making it. but keep up that false confidence as others do what they like and still live comfortably because its the fucking 21st century.

broke rib laughing at long haul. owners don't make that anymore. friggin towel heads pile 4 in a cab, drill a hole in the floor and drive nonstop across the country and back taking turns for 19 cents a mile. contracts on the oil fields can come close, but it's seasonal work. even ice road guys don't make that kinda scratch. but you do get to play with a CB brah.

>mfw people think $10k-$20k difference in STARTING salary for a job matters worth shit.
Starting salary doesn't matter much at all. What matters is what you earn 10-20 years down the road.
