Ok, so doing a lab report, I'm having a bit of a retard moment... Think I might have forgotten about d-electron counts. I'm looking at my UV-VIS spectra for [VO4]3-, [CrO4]2- and [MnO4]-, and as far as I can see they are all d-zero complexes, so where does the colour come from?
