Alright I have a an actual serious question here.
How do I get into space?
What would I have to major in college to potentially do it and who would I work for?
and how difficult is majoring as an aerospace engineer?

>> No.2314736

Do you own a calculator?

If so, you already have an engineering degree.

Get an engineering or hard science degree. Then get your doctorate in something like that. Then work your ass of doing inventive work. Then be physically fit by age 40.

People have gone to space without being engineers though.

See:

Doctors
Teachers (LOL why)
Geologists
Meterologists
Anything Earth or Human health related

To add to this. Wayne State University and the University of Texas at Austin have programs designed around Aerospace Medicine.

You have no hope of becoming an astronaut. Instead, become a millionaire and buy a ticket.

- Attend a prestigious undergraduate institution, preferably the Air Force Academy or the best school you can get into with an AFROTC program, which you will need a scholarship from.
- Graduate with honors in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering and enter into the Astronaut Pipeline (You will need vision correctable to 20/20 for this).
- Pass flight training with highest honors. It is crucial that you dominate this stage or you will end up stuck as a pilot.
- Qualify for what is essentially pre-Astronaut training. This is essentially the waiting stage.
- Get called up for formal astronaut training. You'll be more than ready for this.
- Become a formal Astronaut. More waiting ensues.
- Go into space and thank anonymous for all its support over the years.

Good luck out there. Polite sage for "not your life/career counselors".

Business.
Major in business, become president of a fortune 500 company, commission a rocket ship, bribe the government into letting you launch it, then fly.
It's your only chance, bro.

I used to want to be an Astronaut until I did some research and realized that the kind of people who become astronauts are the elite throughout their entire lives. I could never hope to compete. I'm just not made of the same time. It's humbling more than it is disappointing. They're truly cut from a different cloth.
