Why do pharmaceutical companies stock herbal medicines that aren't proven to work? I worked at one casually awhile back stocking shit, and the pharmacist says he tries to talk people out of buying some of the stuff they have to stock, usually unnecessfully. Because you know, what do pharmacists know about medicine?

A better question would be: why do they stock homoeopathic "medicines" that not only do not work, but have no conceivable mechanism whereby they might work?

*Some* herbal medicines actually do work, but then the question becomes, why should they be preferred over chemical medicines other than "hurr durr natural?"
