obviously your statement isn't true 100% of the time but the "nerd/geek" stereotype does have a basis in reality.

they aren't smart. or any smarter than the "jock" or "cheerleader" anyway. they've just spent their time on academics because they fail so fucking hard at being social.

tl;dr nerds practice being smart more than social people
