Heres something. The human body is capable of producing millions white blood cells and antibodies to combat infection. What you may not know is that the human can produce an almost unlimited number of different types. Right now there are white blood cells in your lymph nodes waiting to fight diseases that dont even exist yet, or haven't existed for over a billion years.

Sunshine was pretty Humanity, Fuck Yeah!

Humanity, not more than a celestial blink of an eye out of the stone age, unites to build the most massive machine the mass of Manhatten Island... when that fails, they build another one. They then fling it at their own star along with a crew in a tiny metal tube which then sacrifices themselves for the sake of the species.

If that doesn't get you all teary eyed then you are a reptilian.

I replied "First, I don't buy into your dead false god myth". I chuckled a lot at that. She left without any sensible reply.

The special features explain it. A real process is cooling our Sun. It involves a particle (Q ball?) getting trapped in the Sun's gravity well and diminishing fusion. The rub is that our Sun isn't massive enough to catch one of these particles.

So, it's still bologna, but it's more plausible then they let on.

It's hard to believe they actually hired a physicist advisor. The physicist advisor actually provides a commentary track and says he told them what was BS and what wasn't but that they just insisted on getting "cool shots" like a dude freezing in space. For you and me it's like nails on a chalk board, but the average movie goer doesn't know any better.

I'm willing to forgive the science fuck ups on account of the movie's themes though.

Don't get me started on smelting. I get used to a certain scale of power usage in day to day circumstances like taking a hot shower or turning on a light. Then I get reminded of the metric fucktonnes of power used to get the LHC going or those electric furnaces that burn metal with electricity. Humanity has a lot more power than I'm used to dealing with... then again my physics departments trebuchet scares the hell out of me. lol

Indeed. Know what the militia is? All able bodied men. It's not restricted to any particular military service, at least not how you are implying.

Know what else? It's a right of the people, aka the individual people, not the militia, and not the government. To assume it's a right of the militia or government makes it a non-right - we don't need an amendment which says that the government may arm people of its choosing. That's an asinine interpretation.

2) I would imagine formation doesn't mean much in a carrier group. Escort vessels just have to be close enough to the carrier to protect against cruise missiles and submarines.
