Which harmful substances to avoid in clothing?

Polyester, Polyamides, Nylon for example are debated for being harmful...
Many substances, most of which are petroleum derivatives, are present in modern "low cost manufacturing" clothing.
So, please share your information / research / ideas on any such harmful substance to avoid.

Why wouldn't this work (if you had perfectly flat terrain)

>(if you had perfectly flat terrain)
Because the rope would never come back from the other side of the Earth.

because the rope would touch the earth. it's not in orbit, it is being pulled straight (actually a catenery, but we'll ignore that)

It would work if the earth really was a flat plane that was bound into a hypersphere. And if the 'rope' was infinitely rigid.

OP here,
what if it's not a rope, but a steel ring around the earth?
