According to The AP, North and Central America should both be able to view the entire eclipse, which is estimated to take about 3.5 hours. Total eclipse will begin at 11:41 p.m. PST on Monday, or 2:41 a.m. EST on Tuesday -- so obviously West Coasters will have a better chance to catch the magnificent sight without dragging around heavy eyelids and needing an extra dose of espresso the following morning. If you want to set an alarm to catch a brief glimpse of the amber moon, NASA recommends 3:17 a.m. EST for the optimal impression.

the color you are seeing is whats supposed to happen, it was turning black before because it was passing behind earth, but the light from the sun lit it up to much to see the red at the time. now that it is completely covered you can see the red.

the red happens because the sun set and sun rise on the sides of the earth are being refracted onto the moon and shining back to the dark side of the earth

I worshipped our Father Horus and Mother Molech asked and I shall receive...after the ritual I had this out of body experience as if I was floating over my body and could see myself once I snapped out of this weird trance my hairs on my body were sticking up and I was shaking violently and I wasn't cold I was actually warm I kept looking up at the moon and saw a falling star then I heard a weird noise looked over and the dog crate was shaking and nothing was in it I freaked the fucked out then realized the cut I made on my arm healed almost completely.

No I'm not trolling and I never tried this before or even believed in it but I feel good things will happen. I'm just a normal 20 year old that lives in Florida.

Venus is always close to the sun in the sky because its orbit lies inside of ours. The moon right now is on the direct opposite side of the sky from the sun.

Thanks to the clouds, I now have to wait 80 years or so to see another eclipse

Can't we just wait for this one in 2014? It appears like most of the US would see it. Am I missing something?
