Dig into the ground underneath the box? See if there is glue residue on the ground he digs up. If The Box sinks down as soon as he digs up the ground, he knows the box is just too heavy.

>> No.2225932

He would acquire some really heavy machinery or some bros to help him move it. HE doesn't just have 10 seconds to figure it out, bear that in mind.

>> No.2225949

Use a crane to tilt the box on to one of it's edges (like a diamond)... it takes less power to tilt on it's side than to move. If that's not possible, it's glued!

>> No.2225950

>>2225903
I'd take a guess as to what the "box" is made of, whether or not it's hollow or solid, examine the ground at it's periphery, look for signs of adhesive, perhaps take a good run at it and kick it with my foot instead of just pushing on it.

Am I allowed any tools? Hammer? Crowbar? Explosives? XD

>> No.2225955

Hit it with a hammer. The denser it is, the less it will vibrate.

Can you dig beneath it?

>> No.2225958

Doesn't work on hard surface. And why would it be glued to soil or sand.

HURRHRERRDURRR WHO GLUED MAI BOX DOWN????

>> No.2226785

reprhrasing:
How to determine with applied power if friction between box and floor is high because of weight or because of glue bonding?
Friction is the same value no matter what causes it.
So all we should notice if box moves or not whenever force of man > friction.
Detection is irrelevant here, the only exception should contain values of glue bonding and natural friction, so if the power applied is bigger, than natural friction it's obviously glued.
tl;dr not enough data to solve.

>> No.2226786

I'll just put on my robe and my wizard hat...

>> No.2226789

>> No.2226905

bump

>> No.2226963

Unless you can tilt the box or spin it/rock it the glue will be equivalent to a high static friction and indistinguishable. You'd have to do some wacky shit (like measure the density of the box) in order to determine a possible difference.

What are the constraints here?

>> No.2227008

Weight box. While trying to lift the box weight it again. If the mass is equal. It is glued.

>> No.2227017

Try to see if you can successfully apply torque to it. If you can't, it's glued.

>> No.2227019

kick the top of the box for maximum torque

>> No.2227034

Either i am looking at this wrong or everyone is crazy.

If its a box literally. like a cardboard box.

Pushing on it would mean the top part would move forward and the bottom wouldn't.

If the whole thing is just rigid then there isn't really any way to tell by just pushing on it.

>> No.2227040

Keep pushing it for days, weeks or months, if it doesn't budge, it's glued.

>> No.2227118

>>2227040
If you keep pushing forever with the same force it won't move it.

lrn2 Solid Mechanics

>> No.2227443

Dig under it. Jesus Christ you people are dense.

>> No.2227459

I would try to tip the box slightly by pushing at the very top. This takes advantage of leaving most of the weight of the box still supported by the ground and doesn't require the box to overcome the static frictional force. If it tips at all it's not glued. If it is superbly heavy you could use a simple machine to try to tip it.

As someone else mentioned, try to determine its density would work as well.

>> No.2227469

googone

>> No.2227471

i think you would not be able to know this, without breaking a peice off to determine density.

sort of like being subject in an upward moving elevator vs. being subject to stronger gravitational fields

>> No.2227479

>really heavy
>glued to ground

There's no difference. It's all just friction. Prove me wrong.

>> No.2227490

Glue increases friction in the same way that weight does, so their effects on the box are nearly identical. To tell the difference I would measure the object's gravity. This would require some very expensive very specialized instrument.

Id try to turn it, using a long arm (sticking a long as pole to the side, and just push). The box should be easier to turn than to move. If this doesnt work, its glued.

troll thread : it's impossible and i can prove it

in both cases, you can't move it at all

you can't modify the cube, nor use instruments as you have only 10 seconds, you can't use dog's sense of smell, you can't see shit as the glue is invinsible, you can't taste it, you can't use sounds, well everything i'll propose, you're gonna refute it
