Everyone on earth is killed except for the people who have been on 4chan in the last 24 hours.

You get the choice to kill yourself, or you get 10 minutes and then you're teleported to a subtropical island populated by the other people of the board you frequent most often with the objects on your person (what you are wearing and holding).

The other boards are alive and on different places of the archipelago. So, naturally, the populace depends on the continents.

The Earth's atmosphere is no longer fucked up, and all the resources on the Earth have been restored to record levels. Long-extinct plants and animals live once more, although the island would have a limited large predator population.

Moot is dead, and we don't have means of communicating with other islands. The boards with <20 people are randomly distributed amongst the bigger boards.

What does /sci/ do?

simple plan to assure /sci/ dominance:

* organize societal hierarchy based on hunting/gathering, always stay in groups to avoid deaths/injuries, small council of brightest people on /sci/ to plan things as a tribal oligarchy

* engineers of /sci/ start building houses, then fortifications+boobytrapped areas of the island (nothing deadly)

* build a few rafts and send out the most worthless members to explore, after teaching them the stars so they can make their way back

* message to /k/: 'want an alliance? we can promise you finished weapons.' we could have messengers from each meet to see if the respective leaders can hash something out

* find /g/, steal actual /g/urus

* steal girls from other islands by promising food, then putting them in a worker caste, where they will be protected as long as they work just like everyone else (also no non-consensual polygamy you niggers)

* take full advantage of materials on island; possibly develop outposts for rare raw materials (mining will be a bitch, for instance, but if resources are high, metals should be easy to find near the surface)

* normal engineers should keep building infrastructure and transportation, electrical engineers should be working with /g/urus on basic computers

* by now, crops should be planted, and most members should be expected to spend 2 or 3 hours a day working on them (excluding the council, people that are very good at hunting/gathering, artisans, and head-engineers, etc.)

* i'll be your Aristotle. hiya :3

>The Earth's atmosphere is no longer fucked up, and all the resources on the Earth have been restored to record levels. Long-extinct plants and animals live once more, although the island would have a limited large predator population.

I lived on a farm for most of my child hood, cows (and Im assuming other docile meet animals) are easy to train/domesticate just fence them up and give them food.

We would then fence of different sectors and lead the cows in a rotation through them. (giving the other sectors time to re-grow edible plants).

Maybe 4-10 hours a week of mandated community work. More or less depending on the project. Also I feel the benefit of rotating jobs allows everyone to become knowledgable in multiple fields, so if our blacksmith dies, someone can still make nails.

Certainly too a persons likes would be considered in job placement. Happy people work harder, skilled people work better. But come harvest time the farmer will need a few extra hands picking crops. And we really need to get more latrines dug.

That's not how people work. They don't just form a mandate to let other people tell them what to do. They will respect those who do the most work for the community. People may allow themselves to be subjugated by a majority vote of the whole, but they're not going to let themselves be subjugated to the whims of an individual or or oligarch without putting up a fight. I certainly wouldn't, unless I was in the oligarchy.

>Also we cant assume that any of the plants will be recognizable, how should we get volunteers to test new food sources on?

Test the food by rubbing it on your skin. In some* cases this will cause a rash, which will give you a pretty good sign that you shouldn't eat it.

But since this is a faulty strategy the best course of action is to just observe what the other animals are eating. Set up cameras, or just observe directly. If mice, rodents, or primates can eat it, good bet it's safe
Hunting is always safe; poisonous animals have their poisons generally localized on glands which excrete onto the skin. Pro-tip: don't eat their skin.
As for water; boil it over a stove. The earth's been restored which means there's no more synthetic pollutants in whatever water source we have. Filter and boil to kill pathogens and we're cruisin.

The sad part is how you don't even understand how wrong you are.

At the simplest level all we need is a cool cave or even a stone outcropping. We build a pool under the outcropping and clean it, then boil water in a pot next to the wall. Steam condenses on the stone and trickles down to the pool.

Have you people no knowledge of history at all?

This design can be further improved simply by adding small slabs of rock over the pot.
