ok, tesla is the most overrated scientist, at least among pop sci faggots

>> No.2223686

einstein is not overrated, he merely gets alot of lip service when people truly do not understand him. his scientific accomplishments were truly devoted, but his character was really his strongpoint

>> No.2223702

Newton, that niggers most famous equation isn't even right.

>> No.2223707

Isaac Newton. Sure as a mathematician he's god-like, but science-wise he was very lacking and questionable. Not to mention most of his work are starting to appear outdated, especially when Einstein took on the law of gravity in relativity.

Richard Dawkins

Yes. Fuck that guy. He was a mediocre biologist so he got famous off philosophy instead

>> No.2223722

>>2223707
I disagree. Under "normal" scale conditions (IE Non-quantum, non-relativistic) Newton's formulae and observations hold up very well, and still create accurate predictions. Not to mention that his framework is what enabled latter advancement to take place.

By contrast, mathematically speaking, his notation was garbage, and he actually did a fair amount of damage to mathematical progress that could have been avoided had he not slandered Leibniz into oblivion.

>> No.2223728

>>2223722
Ugh, dat notation. I tried to look at Principia once but its just a big shitstorm of tl;dr. He needed an editor

Dont forget the environment he was trying to do science in. Newton practiced alchemy because chemistry had yet to be invented!

Carl Sagan, because he made science a religion full of pseudo-intellectual fucktards.

Also Darwin. Without his theory of evolution, communism and fascism could have been avoided completely, and America would be able to make the world a freer place.

You realize that in the years between 1945 and 1991 we would install military dictatorships in order to overthrow democratically elected socialist regimes, right? And that evolution has much broader implications than simple Marxism, right?

Einstein isn't overrated, he's one of the fathers of modern physics. Sure, some others should be as popular as him, but at least the public recognizes one genius.

Hawking only because of the public opinion that he's the smartest man alive or whatever; he's one of the more legit physicists out of the pop science writers.

Feynman was extremely important to physics, he got the Nobel for a reason.

Agree with the rest mostly.
