My school has a 4.3 GPA scale

A standard 4.0 is:
A+ (97-100) = 4.0
A (93-96) = 4.0
A- (90-92) = 3.7

B+ (87-89) = 3.3
B (83-86) = 3.0
B- (80-82) = 2.7

C+ (77-79) = 2.3
C (73-76) = 2.0
C- (70-72) = 1.7

D+ (67-69) = 1.3
D (65-66) = 1.0
E/F (below 65) = 0.0

Ours is:
A+: 4.3
A: 4.0
A-: 3 2/3
B+: 3 1/3
B: 3.0
B-: 2 2/3

Etc

How do I convert a GPA in the 4.3 scale to a 4.0 scale?

Also what are the advantages disadvantages to using such a scale?

Dude, what the fuck?
A 4.3 scale?

I have no idea. I guess you would just treat all of your A+ grades as 4.0 instead of 4.3 and then recalculate it.

...I kinda wish my school had an A+; that would help me. We have +/- but there's no A+.

Nah dude a 4.3 scale sucks. I go a top engineering/science school and hardly any professors ever assign an A+.

Make all A+'s, get a 4.3 GPA :D

n/4.3 = x/4.0

No dude, that won't work. It makes all the normal A's worth less.

Think about it:
I make 4 A's and get a 4.0 on a 4.3 scale.

Your conversion puts that at ~3.72, which is wrong.

You are now aware that schools bend over backwards to make their students appear smarter. If they didn't, there would be no such thing as letter grades and GPAs. You'd take a class, get a grade from 0 to 100, no curve, and that would be it. But since we need our students to appear to actually not have shit for brains, we:

1) Grade nearly every class on a ridiculous curve
2) Translate that numeric grade to a letter grade, rounding up wherever possible
3) Translate from letter grades BACK to a numeric scale
4) Include things like "AP" credit that somehow give you a 5 out of a possible 4
5) Play numeric games like OP's retarded 4.3 scale

LOL, this is so true.
Highschools are worse about it.
I graduated with something like a 5.3 because our AP classes counted as 6.0 and Honors as 5.0.
Basically, I was salutatorian and the only reason I didn't exactly tie the valedictorian was that she took an AP chem class and I took an off period. We both made straight A's throughout highschool (which was a joke).

if you make a B- in a 4.3 scale that is worst than a B- on a 4.0 scale which makes you look dumber amirite

Dude, what?
My school has a 4.0 scale and the B- is the exact same as OP's (2.67). We just don't have an A+ so you can never get above 4.0.
