Are there solitär games that are impossible to win? I am pretty sure that I tried every possible combinations and all lead to losing the game.

It depends which variety of solitaire (patience).

Freecell definitely has unwinnable games. In the version which comes with WinXP, choose "Select Game" and enter -1 or -2 as the seed for a game which is clearly unwinnable.

yep, given the nature of the game there are series of cards and initial setups that are absolutely impossible to "win" regardless of skill level.

Sure. For instance, suppose the initial 7 visible cards are red 2,2,3,3,4,4,5, and the draw pile (24 cards) contains the other 19 red cards plus 5 high-value black cards.
