I'm working on a physics lab and am a bit confused.

We calculated the work done while on various machines in the gym. Now we need to figure out how many reps of each machine we would need to produce the same amount of work in one serving of junk food.

1 calorie = 4.2 Joules and 1 Calorie = 1000 calories right? Therefore 1 Calorie = 4200 Joules.

If a twinkie has 150 Calories it would have 630000 Joules.

Now for machine A you need to produce 2459 Joules. So 630,000/2459 would give you the answer for the amount of reps. However this number is really high, I know you would not need to do 256 reps on this machine to work off the calories in one twinkie.

Are the calories on food labels in calories still? Thats what I was guessing but I was not sure.

Look, the problem you're having is that you think that doing one rep on a machine is actually a lot. I mean how much do you really think one rep burns? 10 calories? 100 calories? Mate if that was the case, imagine how much it would take for a person who weights 200 lbs just to walk a mile.
