>"The time for debate is over and a vote to repeal and replace it should be something the House of Representatives addresses in the first week of the 112th Congress."

You barely have a majority in the house and the democrats have the majority in the senate and own the white house.

and if you attempt to repeal it in one shot and fail, it won't be months, possibly even years and years before you can try again.

Also, the only reason half the country is down on the health reforms passed by Obama is because they are ignorant fucks who think there is shit like death panels in there.

PLus, if health care bill is repealed, insurance companies will be able to discriminate via pre-existing conditions, among plenty of other evil shit. So enjoy trying to convince the public that repeal is in their interest. It is pure cannon fodder for the Democratic party.

Good luck nigger.

Scientists don't make inherently leaders. Being a good leader is not dependent on your profession. Not that our current politicians are great... Just saying a technocracy would be as much fail as our current regime.

I wasn't saying to be inspired by a good leader, but scientists don't make inherently better lawmakers/leader.

I'd argue that scientists WOULD make better laws because they'd be objective and fact based. So I'd rather live in that society than in a society that values charismatic leaders.

I wouldn't want a charismatic leader, but things aren't that black and white. Being a scientist doesn't give you some sort of inherent ability to make laws where everyone would be happy. Reality isn't that simple.

Scientists would probably be more likely to base things on facts and known trends than gut hunches. If they're skeptical, it would also be much harder to convince lobby and convince them of bullshit ideas.

Maybe I wouldn't like the law, but I'd understand why the law is the way it is. For example, I can't buy alcohol on sundays. Why? Religion. But if there was a scientist in charge, maybe they'd still ban alcohol, but they'd have a good reason for it.

That sounds good in theory, but remember some scientists are prone to stealing the work of other scientists. In short, even intellectuals can become corrupt. I'm not saying that this guy is a good leader, however.

Weren't who you were talking with before, but I agree to an extent. They wouldn't be perfect leaders, if anyone could, but I believe they'd probably be better.

But scientists are peer reviewed, so when they do committ fraud, they have people looking over their shoulder and scrutinizing them. And politicians are just as human as scientists, and just as prone to corruption, but without the safeguards. I'm not saying a scientist would be perfect, but I think they'd be much much better than a politician.
